Here’s the latest rumors about what’s dropping at IT Nation Connect!
What are the hottest things in the MSP market right now? In all my conversations, I’d say the following are huge issues every MSP is talking about:
IT automation (especially beyond what legacy RMM can touch)
Cyber insurance (still an issue as it’s not been solved and security incidents are rising)
Employee learning & upskill (literally why we started Empath)
So what does all this have to do with IT Nation? No doubt the behemoths of ConnectWise and Kaseya are hot to trot on all of these things and more. So would I if I were in their shoes.
One of the biggest rumors is that ConnectWise will be releasing their own RPA, essentially a competitor to Rewst at IT Nation.
Why is this a big deal?
Because the large RMM providers know there’s a ticking clock for legacy, on-prem agent-limited RMMs. That doesn’t mean RMMs are irrelevant. But it does mean this: innovate or die.
If I’m running an RPA like Rewst or Pia (which my lawyer requires me to say: I’m not! And have zero equity or interest in any RPA at the moment), I’d be thinking the same thing.
It’s not a question of “How do I kill the RMM?” It’s rather: “How do I make legacy RMM irrelevant by doing everything they’re doing and more?”
So that’s why I believe the rumors are true. ConnectWise is likely releasing their generation 1 RPA. But should MSPs use it? Will it be laden with bugs? Is it just lipstick on old tech?
Who knows. But we’ll find out soon!
(Side note: also hearing rumors of other potential acquisitions to be announced as well. Perhaps a phishing simulation and security awareness company? Who knows! But we’ll find out next week at IT Nation Connect!)
Speaking of IT Nation… guess who will be speaking? (See what I did there?)

Security Training Hasn’t Solved a Damn Thing in 20 Years and Here’s Why
The very first phishing email was sent in 1995. And yet, nearly three decades later, millions of hours of training, billions of dollars spent on training (and countless billions more lost) we have to ask ourselves: Have we made a difference? In this session partnered up with Connor Swalm and Phin Security, we'll uncover what makes good awareness training, how security sales and empathetic conversations are critical, and why training is not the same thing as learning. You'll get key takeaways that will help you and your clients reduce risk while building better cybersecurity maturity at the same time.
